Take of tour of the Lapa Stairs created by Jorge Selarón , who was an amazing Chilean artist and a beloved character who moved to Rio de Janeiro and decided to give a rundown stairway in Lapa a massive makeover. Starting in 1990, he began covering the Lapa steps with thousands of colorful tiles, many of which he collected from people from all over the world. He called the staircase his “tribute to the Brazilian people,” and it became his life’s work. Selarón kept adding to it and changing it up until he passed away in 2013. Now, the Escadaria Selarón is a must-see spot in Rio. Pharrell and Snoop Dogg's "Beautiful" video which was shot here, brought a whole new generation to Rio. drawing in tourists and art lovers from everywhere.
