Price Point
Very Reasonable for an 18 year old single malt.
Nose
Fragrant sherry, touch of peat and some smoke, very restrained smoke compared to a typical Islay malt.
Palate
Cherries, red licorice, peat melds with sherry very elegantly, rosewater, sandalwood, red orchard fruits accented with smoke and peat,
Finish
Medium length, kippers, bacon and Bordeaux red wine.
General Impressions
Very nice and restrained for an Islay. Balanced. Only criticism is it is less complex than say Highland Park 18 and other 18 year old single malts whether they are from Islay or other regions. But, given the price being cheaper than its peers, this is something that can be overlooked.
Cheers,
