Before we scan your cine film, we always give it a thorough machine clean first. Cine film typically has a fair amount of dust and hairs floating on the emulsion, so it's important t remove this loose debris. Cleaning also helps to remove built-up grime and staining, so we get a brighter, fresher scan.

This particular example is of an 8mm cine film that had suffered from damp exposure leaving a layer of mould. Several cleans later and we've managed to almost eliminate the damage and salvage the film. We use an anti-fungal wash which helps to slow down any further degradation.
