The UNRWA Summer Games in Sheikh Ajleen site in Gaza was sponsored by Hope and Play. The site we funded was a beach site, and many of the children attending were seeing the sea for the first time despite living less than 5 miles away from it. This event was in the summer of 2009, following the fierce Israeli invasion into Gaza which left almost the entire population of children there suffering from a level of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and many parents reported that these games were the first time they'd seen their children smile or laugh since then.
