AMSTERDAM - After an investigation with the Montgomery County department of Social Services, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Amsterdam Police, 7 people were are arrests on various charges of fraud.Arrested:Gary Groves, 30, of 24 Williams Street was arrested and charged after he allegedly failed to report income from self employment, receiving SNAP benefits and Medicaid benefits that he did not qualify for.45-year-old Tina Stewart of 46 Reid Street in Amsterdam was charged with welfare fraud after allegedly failing to report household income, receiving $1,725 in benefits she was not eligible for.Maria Miranda, 32, of 389 Locust Avenue, was charged with allegedly failing to report household income and falsifying a public assistance application.Albert Chase III, 32, of 149 Toback Road in Esperance was arrested for allegedly submitting a false job search document in an attempt to maintain eligibility.54-year-old Debbie Valentine of 311 Vrooman Avenue in Amsterdam was arrested and charged for filing a false SNAP application and failing to report household income, allegedly receiving $2,552 in benefits she was not entitled to.62-year-old Robert Brooks, Jr of 58 Reid Street in Amsterdam was charged with a misdemeanor after receiving $303 after allegedly filing a false daycare application.Yajaira Rivera, 32, of Amsterdam was charged with allegedly falsifying a public assistance application.Police say more arrests are pending.
