Moong Dal Cheela is a dish we have all adored since our childhood. Mrs Alyona Kapoor shows us how it is made in her home, bringing back countless memories.
MOONG DAL CHEELA
Ingredients
1½ cups green gram (moong dal) sprouts + for sprinkling
1 inch ginger, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves + for topping
½ teaspoon asafoetida
Ghee for drizzling
Chopped onions for topping
Chaat masala for sprinkling
Method
1. Blend together green gram sprouts, ginger, cumin seeds, peppercorns, coriander leaves and asafoetida with sufficient water to a smooth batter.
2. Heat a non-stick tawa. Pour a ladleful of batter on it and spread into a medium thick disc. Drizzle some ghee and top with some onions and coriander leaves, sprinkle some chaat masala and green gram sprouts. Cover and cook till the underside turns golden brown.
3. Serve hot.
