Who doesn’t love looking at beautiful leaves turning red, yellow or orange colors in Autumn. Due to Covid we could not travel far this year. But we really wanted to explore and see some fall colors; Upstate New York is very famous for that. And Catskill mountain are is known for this. Lots of people go for hiking in Catskills. Although we did not hike all the way top to the mountain but we were able to see some beautiful fall colors just by driving up to Overlook mountain in Catskills.
We thought of sharing our memories from our mini road trip to Catskills with you all. It is a perfect day trip from NYC for all the seasons but we felt like in Fall it wears its best outfit. This is actually the best time to go as weather was also perfect and with that all the leaves were colorful. It seems as if we were in a magical land.
From there we went to Ashokan Reservoir. The Ashokan Reservoir is a reservoir in Ulster County, New York. It is at the eastern end of the Catskill Park, and is one of several in the region created to provide the City of New York with water. It is the city's deepest reservoir at 190 feet near the dam at the former site of Bishop Falls. It has perfect fall view as well, you can see the whole valley in the catskill mountain range with the water view. Perfect for spending some quite time and inhale nature.
From there we stopped by to a nearby Hudson valley town name ‘Kingston’. In 1777, Kingston was designated as the first capital of the state of New York. During the summer of 1777, when the New York State constitution was being written, New York City was occupied by British troops. Albany (the then second-largest settlement in New York and capital of the newly independent State of New York) was under threat of attack by the British. The seat of government was moved to Kingston, which was deemed safer. We explored downtown Kingston as much as we could . Such cute little town worth visiting. Food is great there as well.
