QAnon has mobilised a global band of believers dedicated to fighting what they claim is a war against child abusing elites. ’It was clear to me in late 2018 and early 2019, that these conspiracy theory trends like QAnon were a danger to the country’, says Miles Taylor, former Chief of Staff to the US Department of Homeland Security. In Australia, it tore apart the Stewart family, after Tim Stewart rose through the ranks of QAnon. His sister says: ’They talk about saving the children. But I was that child, I was once the child that they claim they’re saving. My life is the worse for having QAnon in it. ’. Tim Stewart’s close relationship with Prime Minister Scott Morrison may even have influenced Morrison’s decision to include the words ‘ritual abuse’ in a parliamentary speech, a phrase used by the Q community. However he counters the allegation - ‘I find it deeply offensive that there would be any suggestion that I would have any involvement or support for such a dangerous organisation’.
