Building an ADU (Auxiliary Dwelling Unit) or a DADU (Detached Auxiliary Dwelling Unit) is a popular option for Seattle area homeowners right now. In an effort to improve housing accessibility, the City of Seattle passed legislation making it easier to build detached housing (think mother-in-law apartments) or separate entry basement apartments.
