The longer a consultation call goes on the more likely your client is going to think that it is indicative of therapy with you. Yeah we’re giving them a taste of who we are as somebody to talk to you, but not deep enough for them to understand what therapy is going to be like with us. The consultation call gives them a chance to get to know us a little bit, hopefully like us and trust us. But if you try to go to deep on that call and you’re not actually able to help them do anything substantive with the information that they give you, they may keep looking for someone else. And they may end up choosing someone who spent five minutes on the phone with them getting just the basics of their situation because they were more clear that it wasn’t therapy-lite.
