The Barbour® women’s Beadnell and Acorn jackets are exemplars of the classic waxed cotton outerwear for which Barbour is renowned.
Since 1894, we have turned to Barbour® for classic waxed cotton jackets that stand up to the elements. And, for over 25 years, Orvis has been a leading destination to help find the Barbour jacket that’s just right for you. Today, we’re going to take a look at the Classic Beadnell and the Acorn, a brand new style this season. Both jackets are made with 100% waxed cotton and built to last with water-repelling and wind-resistant features. And, they both have Barbour’s trademark finishes including a classic tartan lining, corduroy collar, handwarmer pockets, a two-way zipper with a storm flap to keep out the elements, and rear snap flaps for added freedom of movement. So how do you decide which is best for you? It really comes down to fit and finish. If you prefer a roomier, boyfriend-like style, the new Acorn is the way to go. The jacket is actually inspired by their own men’s Bedale because so many women were buying it for themselves. The Acorn is treated with an 8oz. Oban wax, a softer wax that gives it a subtle, suede effect finish. If you’re looking for a more tailored look, stick with the Classic Beadnell. It’s waxed with 6oz. Sylkoil, a traditional shorn wax — where the cotton is dyed and waxed straight from the loom. The Classic Beadnell has a smooth, soft matte finish and may show some natural yet faint imperfections in color and finish.
And, last but not least, don’t forget your add-ons that are compatible with both jackets — a hood, for extra protection from the elements, and a fleece liner, for extra warmth. We suggest you buy the attachable hood with your jacket purchase so that they naturally wear together.
I bet you didn’t know the zipper pull doubles as a bottle opener… because you never know when you’ll need one handy.
