Sprouted Jowar Upma
Like we sprouted moong the other day, the same way you can sprout Jowars too. And once you have got Jowar sprouts, you can make endless recipes. Here is one Sprouted Jowar Upma. Sprouting takes 2 days but once done, you are in for a healthy, gluten free & high protein dish which you can have for breakfast, snack, lunch or dinner. We are celebrating 2023 as the year of Millets. Recipe for how to sprout moong I have already shared sometime ago; please follow the same process.
Ingredients:
1 cup sprouted Jowar
1/2 cup Water
1 tsp Ghee
2-3 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
2 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
1 tbs White Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
2 tbs Peanuts
5-6 Cashews
2-3 finely chopped Garlic
Finely chopped small Ginger knob
Finely chopped Onion
Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
1/2 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
Red Chilli Powder (as per taste)
Pinch of Garam Masala
Finely chopped veggies (Tomato, Carrot & Cauliflower)
Green Peas
Approx 3-4 tbs Water
1/2 Lemon and chopped Coriander
Method:
Take 1 cup sprouted Jowar in the pressure cooker
Add 1/2 cup Water
Cook up to 3 whistles
Further heat 1 tsp Ghee in a pan
Add 2-3 Bay Leaves (Tej Patta)
Add 2 Cinnamon Sticks (Dalchini)
Add 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
Add 1 tbs White Sesame Seeds (Safed Til)
Add 2 tbs Peanuts
Add 5-6 Cashews
Add 2-3 finely chopped Garlic
Add finely chopped small Ginger knob
Add finely chopped Onion
Add Salt to taste
Add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi)
Add 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder (Dhaniya Powder)
Add Red Chilli Powder (as per taste)
Add a pinch of Garam Masala and mix it
Add finely chopped veggies (Tomato, Carrot & Cauliflower)
Add Green Peas
Saute and add boiled Jowar
Add approx 3-4 tbs Water
Cover and cook for 10 min on medium heat
Squeeze 1/2 Lemon and add some chopped Coriander
Transfer it on a serving plate
Enjoy Scrumptious Sprouted Jowar Upma
