No Quarter was pretty much the song that hooked me on Led Zeppelin. I was already familiar with their hits like Rock and Roll, WLL, Stairway...but I remember being mesmerized the first time I heard NQ, which was when my dad took me to see The Song Remains The Same at The Carnegie Theater in Chicago in 1978. I went home and immediately searched for which album had that song! I found my dads copy of Houses of The Holy and played it over and over. That was it...goodbye Kiss Army, hello Zeppelin!!
This groove is 100% classic Bonzo with a slightly swung feel, lots of ghosting, and irregularly placed fills. If you've never heard the outtakes from this session, check them out. The sound of his kit is different than on the final mix and sounds incredible! Also, he plays some really inventive, different fills on the other run throughs.
I extended the ending for a while , just to add some different bits ala Bonzo. I think the drum mix was a little too hot this time but, oh well...hope you dig it anyway. Thanks for all your continued support and interest in this channel.
Please follow The People's Front Of Zeppelin as well.
