You def don't need a witness to prove how powerful and infectious this track it. It's this track that first reeled me into his music, and now there's no turning back. Benjamin Booker is a young, emotive SUPER TALENT (Ray LayMontagne's raspy vocals crossed with Gary Clark Jr's guitar shreds) with a style that bridges vintage soul-rock with gospel and blues. It therefore makes sense then that the legendary gospel/soul artist Mavis Staples sings the female "Am I gonna be witness?" part on his recent album, Witness. LOVE THAT! But, for this performance at The Independent, Jessica of She Keeps Bees shows too that she can throw down some Staples! ;)
