At least 48 journalists were killed around the world in relation to their work between January 1 and December 15, 2016, the Committee to Protect Journalists found in its annual analysis. Syria, with 14 journalists killed, was the deadliest country on Earth for journalists for the fifth consecutive year as the conflict in that nation raged on.
