While Congress deals with pressing economic issues, the topic of abortion is also sharing center stage on Capitol Hill. 3 Democratic lawmakers shared their abortion experiences before a House panel, but pro-life lawmakers also spoke up to defend the unborn. Democrats went all out exploring ways to strengthen and expand abortion access. A parade of witnesses told their personal stories. Representative Pramila Jayapal stated, "For me, terminating my pregnancy was not an easy choice, the most difficult I've made in my life. But it was my choice. And that must be preserved for every pregnant person." The Progressive Caucus chair says she would never want to tell any woman how to choose. One Republican pro-life lawmaker testified as well, insisting while the choice is often difficult, she's grateful she was not aborted. Representative Kat Cammack says, "My mom survived, I survived. And I am a living, breathing witness of the power of life and the incredible choice my own mother made." Congresswoman Cammack testified saying it is clear Democrats are trying to force their pro-abortion agenda on America, and it's part of the president's plan. Democrats are also calling for the permanent end to the Hyde Amendment. Pro-life lawmakers say the fight continues. Capitol Hill Correspondent, Erik Rosales reports.
