We see a lot of straight foward commercial shows so to come to Paris to see something that is as upbeat as that is a joy."

8. SOUNDBITE Mario Testino: "I thought the way he mixed the imagination and at the same time to have the clothes is really fantastic, because it turns it into a show really rather than a fashion show. It is a mixture of performance and installation, it is quite amazing."
STORYLINE:
GALLIANO LETS HIS IMAGINATION RUN WILD IN PARIS
Photographer Mario Testino was among the guests at the new collection from JOHN GALLIANO's own label.
Critics were both delighted and bemused by the show - Anna Wintour of Vogue USA called it 'exceptional, exuberant joyful, fun, insane,' while London's Evening Standard newspaper said: "Unless you're a member of Billy Smart's circus, (the clothes) probably wouldn't integrate very well into your wardrobe."
Models appeared with faces painted in bright colours and glittering lips. The clothes themselves were dusted with powdered paint, clouding the air as models turned.
Clothes were bright, like the glittering gold jacket worn with a huge red feather boa.
Dresses had an ethnic feel, while trousers were baggy and jackets came with puffed-sleeves.
As critics point out, Galliano can be as outlandish as he likes with his own label - as long as his huge success at Christian Dior keeps the tills ringing.
