More South Africans are moving overseas for work without ending their tax residency in the country.

According to the South African Revenue Service, over 40 500 taxpayers have ended their tax residency in South Africa over the past five years.

But experts say the number is much higher when you include South Africans who've left the country for work without informing local tax authorities.

This is often done by those who want to avoid paying taxes on their foreign earnings.
