The KWTX First Alert Weather Team will be keeping a close eye on a strong cold front pushing into the area Monday. Nov. 18 for the possibility of severe weather.
The primary severe weather risk from Monday’s strong storms will be from straight-line wind gusts that could near 65 MPH within the strongest storms.
Although we’ll be monitoring primarily for gusty winds, the strongest storms could also contain up to quarter-size hail too.
The tornado risk with Monday’s morning storms is low, but it’s entirely possible for a stray tornado to form. Since instability within the atmosphere is low but wind shear is high, any tornadoes that form should be relatively short-lived and likely weak.
