Teenager Autumn Veatch survived two days in the woods after a small plane she was travelling in crashed near Mazama, Washington.Veatch, 16, was flying in a small plane with her step-grandparents, Leland and Sharon Bowman, on Saturday afternoon. Autumn’s father, David Veatch, told local news that the plane flew into some clouds then crashed into the side of a mountain. Both grandparents died in the crash. The plane was en route from Kalispell Montana to Lynen Airport, in Washington when it disappeared off radar near Omak, Washington, at 3:21 p.m. The last cell phone signal was detected at 3:49 p.m.Veatch remained near the crash site for a full day before walking for another day to safety. She followed a stream to a highway where she was picked up Monday afternoon and given a ride to Mazama, Washington. Search crews are using Veatch’s description of the terrain to help locate the wreckage.
