This Thanksgiving, Children’s Museum Houston serves up a heaping helping of family fun with our Great Gobbler Thanksgiving Week, Nov. 25 to 30, 2024! It’s time to come together, give thanks, and enjoy a cornucopia of exciting activities that’ll leave you stuffed with joy. From turkey-tastic games to festive performances, gather your little turkeys and head to the Museum for a week full of festive fowl-play!
SPECIAL GREAT GOBBLER THANKSGIVING WEEK EVENTS:
OPEN MONDAY! (Nov. 25)
Turkey Jam & DJ Games: Get ready to shake your tail feathers! We’re kicking off the week with a Turkey Jam. Groove to the beat, line dance with the Children's Museum Turkey, and play some turkey-riffic games! Don’t be shy—this is your time to wing it and show off your best moves!
When: From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Kid's Hall Alcove.
TUESDAY (Nov. 26)
Turkey Pardon: Will the turkey get a second helping of freedom? Join us as the Kids' Committee President grants a real-life turkey its Thanksgiving pardon! It’s a tradition worth gobbling up!
When: At noon in Kid's Hall Alcove.
Live Turkey Encounter: Say “howdy” to our feathered friend before it gets a pass to celebrate the season. Our turkey will be waddling around, ready for selfies and squawks!
When: From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kid's Hall Alcove.
Phillips 66 Turkey Tales: We’re serving up fun by the books! Get cozy with Gobbler for a delightful Thanksgiving story! Your little pilgrims can enjoy a special take-home activity.
When: At 1 and 4 p.m. in Parent Resource Library.
WEDNESDAY (Nov.27)
Pumpkin’ Chunkin’ Relay: What’s Thanksgiving without some pumpkin smashing? Teams will race to fill pumpkins, and then we’ll defy gravity by sending them off a lift for the ultimate splatter! Who will make the most spectacular smash? You be the judge! (Participants must be 5+ and are selected by raffle)
When: At noon in Patio.
Pumpkin Chunkin’ Catapults: It’s a smashing good time! Put your engineering skills to the test and see how far your pumpkins can soar using custom catapults.
When: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Chevron Maker Annex.

Changing of the Seasons: We’re passing the holiday baton as the Great Gobbler hands over the reins to none other than Santa Claus himself! Join the festive fun as the Ensemble Theatre helps bring this magical skit to life, and don’t miss your chance to meet Santa and his elf helper.

TUTS presents Disney’s FROZEN Sneak Peek: Let it go with a live performance from Theatre Under the Stars’ upcoming hit Broadway musical production of Disney's FROZEN. All Elsa's and Anna's welcome!

SATURDAY (Nov. 30)
Moana’s Ocean Commotion - A Polynesian Thanksgiving!: Cap off the week with a splash of island flair! Enjoy Polynesian dance performances and join Moana herself for a special Thanksgiving-themed story time and celebrating the release of the “Moana 2” movie. It’s an adventure across the sea to be thankful for!
