In this video you will learn how to do scapular retraction by the YTW exercise. Scapular exercises, or shoulder blade exercises, are great for scapular strengthening, and to fix posture, especially if you’re trying to learn how to fix rounded shoulders. Scapular retraction exercises and scapular strengthening exercises, like the YTW exercise, are great for everyone, but particularly if you sit at a desk or computer for hours each day.
These YTW are also great posture correction exercises for anyone trying to fix posture and looking for exercises for rounded shoulders. Posture correction is a significant issue today for anyone who sits all day, with poor posture as a result.
This shoulder blade exercise can be done either standing, as shown in the YTW video, or prone on the ground, facing down. Scapular retraction and shoulder retraction exercises should be done slowly, and in a focused manner.
At the end range of the movement, squeeze your shoulder blades together, for a better contraction. Repetition of the scapular exercises is key, and posture correction will take time. Try to do the YTW exercise on a daily basis to see best posture correction.
