I had the pleasure of nerding on this wonderful piece of gear; the Sonor Ikebe Drum Station 14x6.5 Bell Bronze Snare Drum. It's a Limited Edition release for the Japanese Market.
Unlike many snare drum demos and product spotlight videos I've seen, I really wanted to be able to explore the 'go to whoa' aspect of this drum as far as tuning range, articulation and body, and sensitivity are concerned. Recording was done with zero effects and zero EQ, just basic level mixing. I know that any recording won't do it justice, but I tried to represent what I feel are the musically sounding tuning (low to cranked) range of this drum. From both ends of the spectrum, I made sure that tone was still evident and distinct, and that the feedback from the drum is still nice (for me) under the stick. Thank you R.H. for loaning me this drum and exploring its nuances.
