Here is a compilation of footage from a visit to see Britain's Biggest Model Railway in Wakefield. Set in the early 80's. This is an actual proper place. Location is Heaton Lodge Junction between Huddersfield and Mirfield. The layout is around 200ft and has had in excess of £25,000 spent on it. That includes tracks scenery, signals and even the locos which are all DCC chipped. The layout is automated and is O Gauge. It's worth a visit
