US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, which led to the “violation” of the One-China policy, is what caused the escalation of tensions across the Taiwan Strait, according to Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian.
“The critical point is if every country put their One-China policy into practice with sincerity, with no compromise, is going to guarantee the peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait,” he said at the National Press Club on Wednesday.
“The Chinese side is taking action in reaction to what has been done by the US side.”
