The Daviess County Fire Department is pushing fire safety ahead of the Christmas holiday.

Inspector/Investigator Keith Hurm provides an update from the Anderson Christmas Tree lot at Wesleyan Park Plaza.

Are you buying a live tree this year? Remember to choose a tree with fresh, green needles that do not fall off when touched.

Before placing the tree in the stand, cut 2" from the base of the trunk. Make sure the tree is at least three feet away from any heat source, including fireplaces and candles.

Be sure to add water daily to the tree stand. Contact the Fire Department with any questions at 270-685-8440.
