For thin fabrics like satin, especially on curved edges, you need a hem which will not pucker and give you a smooth finish. This rolled hem creates a narrow, clean edge that reduces bulk.
Steps
Fold the edge of the fabric about 1/4 inch to the wrong side and press it lightly. Stitch close to the folded edge.
Trim off the seam allowance
Fold it again about 1/8 inch, encasing the raw edge inside. Press the fold to hold it in place.
Stitch over the folded edge, keeping the hem narrow and even.
