(30 Nov 2019) Mothers of missing Central American migrants asked officials on Friday to do more to help search for their children.
They have asked representatives of the Mexican federal prosecutor's office and the Ministry of the Interior to offer more assistance to help with effective search mechanisms and strengthening collaboration with consulates.
For the past 15 years, the mothers of missing Central American migrants have been travelling through Mexico looking for their children.
These women, assisted by the Mesoamerican Migrant Movement, share photos of their loved ones in towns, parks and hospitals, which has led to five reunions of families this year and more than 300 throughout the last decade and a half.
Head of the National Commission for People Search of Mexico, Karla Quintana Osuna, on Friday announced the launch of a new free phone number and web page through which people could report about the missing anonymously.
