The Early 2000s saw a heightened consciousness of the Honeybee Crisis and a move to save the honeybee. However, the last few years have seen a push back against keeping honeybees and a criticism that keeping bees is not ecologically responsible. Particularly, I have seen the assertion that keeping honeybees is not good permaculture and we should stop keeping them.
As a sustainable beekeeper, I would like to respond to these assertions and take a thoughtful approach to keeping honeybees, supporting native bees, and moving toward abundance.
