Two dams broke in northeastern Brazil, flooding a rain-drenched region that has already seen thousands forced to flee their homes.

The floods have killed 18 people and affected 50 cities since early November.

Bahia Governor Rui Castro said at least 400,000 people have been impacted by the heavy rains.
