Today, we start off our virtual walking tour through Zand Boulevard, from Setad square which is one of the oldest squares located in downtown Shiraz to Shahrdari Square. The current name for Setad square is Imam Hossein square, but people still call it Setad.
As we walk through Zand Boulevard, you can see different clothes shops and shopping malls such as Shahre Shab and Farjadian shopping malls.
As we get close to school days, Masoudi stationary shopping center is the students' first option! There are also a lot of hotels and exchange offices in this neighborhood which makes it a great place for tourists and travelers to stay. Also, "Melli Bank" near Anvari street is a good place for exchanging money.
Most of the cinemas in Shiraz used to be in this area in the past, but after the Islamic revolution, they were closed and just a few have still remained active like Felestin, Payam, and Iran cinemas. "Ariana Cinema", one of the most equipped cinemas in shiraz was unfortunately closed down. It was built and opened by Shahrokh Golestan in 1348. A cinema that has been unique in its kind until today and mostly academics, students and prestigious families used to go there.
Near Payam Cinema, there is a very old and famous shopping center for men clothes and shoe shops on the first floor, and tailor shops on the upper floors which is called " Kakhe Noor". On the underground, there is a very old famous restaurant which mostly serves barbecued kebabs and liver.
At the end of the boulevard, we get to Shahrdari Square (currently known as Shohada sq). It is called Shahrdari (Municipality) because Shiraz Municipality building is in its close vicinity. Near Shahrdari Square, you can see a great historical masterpiece called Karim Khan Citadel. Other historical sights from Zandieh complex (Vakil bazaar, Vakil historical Bath, Vakil mosque) are also near this area.
As far as Zand boulevard is one of the most important districts in Shiraz, it is quite accessible using subway, bus, and taxi. So, if you are looking for somewhere to stay in downtown shiraz, don't forget to check out the hotels in this neighborhood.
