Carlos Edriel Yulo won 2 Gold and 2 Silver medals in gymnastics at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games held in 2019 in the Philippines. He won gold in the men's all-around and parallel bars, Silver in Men’s Still Rings and Team events.
Yulo became the country’s first double-gold performer in the SEA Games after getting back at Vietnam’s Phuong Thanh Dinh, who secured the gold in the rings and placed second in the p-bars with 14.400 points.
Juancho Miguel Besana became the Philippines' newest gold medalist from gymnastics on Tuesday in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.
Besana topped the men's vault apparatus finals after scoring 14.425. Thailand's bet Tikumporn Surintornta placed second at 14.150 while Vietnam's representative Hai Khang Trinh came third with 14.050.
Even without Carlos Yulo in floor exercise, no problem. John Ivan Cruz topped the floor exercise of the 32nd Southeast Asian Games for the Philippines' second gold in artistic gymnastics.
Cruz scored 13.850 in the floor, the pet event of Yulo who was forced not to compete due to a cap enforced by the organizers for the number of events an athlete can participate in. Cruz took the floor ahead of the rest among seven finalists and registered 13.850 points while Thailand’s Tikumporn Surintornta pocketed the silver with 13.800 points. Winding up with the bronze is Indonesia’s Joseph Hatoguan (13.500).
Cruz was very happy when he learned that he was named the champion in the men's floor exercise, the same event where Carlos Edriel Yulo won the World Championships.
This is Cruz's first gold medal on the international stage.
