China has accused Australia and Canada of "spreading disinformation" over near clashes in international airspace. Canberra said Chinese fighter planes intercepted one of its jets over the South China Sea during a routine operation, but Beijing said the incident took place in areas under its domain. Australia's defence ministry has said its aircraft was conducting routine maritime surveillance. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has insisted the flight was conducted in accordance with international law.
