(2 Jun 2017) Several people were killed on Friday during a demonstration in Kabul, authorities said.
The protest in downtown Kabul turned violent as police fired at rock-throwing protesters demanding better security in the Afghan capital in the wake of a powerful truck bomb attack that killed 90 people.
Dejan Panic, a programme coordinator for a non-governmental organisation (NGO) that runs Emergency Hospitals in Afghanistan, said four died among the 15 who were carried in from the protest.
As the protesters attempted to move closer to the Presidential Palace, police sprayed them with hoses from a water tanker and later fired tear gas.
