Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee Billy Steinberg co-wrote Alone with partner Tom Kelly. In 1987, Heart recorded Alone with Ann Wilson on lead vocals. Single reached number one on the US and Canada charts. Celine Dion recorded another hit version of Alone for her 2007 album Taking Chances. Billy Steinberg then sings his composition I'll Stand By You, written by Steinberg/Kelly/Chrissie Hynde. The Pretenders recorded the power ballad in 1994. I'll Stand By You was the last hit single for Chrissie Hynde's group.
