Hello slayers, this is SlayEazy, and this is your Kalphite slayer guide. Kalphites can be assigned at level 15 combat by all Slayer masters, except for the Wilderness Slayer master. Kalphites come in a wide variety of levels. Apart from the Queen, all Kalphites use melee attacks. All Kalphites have relatively poor drops, but the task can offer extremely fast slayer XP.
Kalphites can be found in two general locations. First, they can be found in the Kalphite Lair in the northwest Kharidian Desert by fairy ring BIQ. If slayer master Konar assigns them here, the best spot to complete the task would be the chamber with five soldiers and use a cannon, as the workers are too far spread apart to consistently cannon them.
Second, they can be found in a Slayer task-only area; the Kalphite Cave, just east of Shantay Pass. The slayer-only Kalphite Cave is ideal because it has open chambers with numerous Kalphites. Both the Kalphite Lair and Kalphite Cave are Multicombat areas, allowing you to use a dwarf multicannon to offer very fast slayer XP, some of the fastest XP in the game.
Kalphites come in four varieties, from weakest to strongest: Level 28 Workers, Level 85 Soldiers, and Level 141 Guardians, as well as the boss monster the level 333 Kalphite Queen. If you are lower combat level or want to complete the task extremely fast for points, I recommend killing the level 28 Workers in the Kalphite Cave – but this is not great XP. If you are medium combat level, I recommend killing the level 85 Soldiers. This can be a relatively quick task still offering quick XP. These level 85 Soldiers can poison starting at 4.
If you are higher combat level near maxed or seeking the most experience for the task, kill the level 141 Guardians. This is still a relatively quick task and a fantastic slayer experience comparable to Lighthouse dagannoths. These can poison starting at 6. Ranged safe spots are available, but I recommend Melee. Bring your cannon and a melee-prayer based setup. Kalphites are slightly weak to crush, but a rapier, fang, or whip would also work fine. The best crush weapons include Inquisitor’s mace, Soulreaper axe, or abyssal bludgeon. The absolute best weapon here is the Keris partisan of breaching, upgraded from the Tombs of Amascut raid. As Kalphite Guardians are 4x4 monsters, a Scythe of Vitur is great here too if you feel like spending the GP.
This is a task I highly recommend using a Bracelet of slaughter on to extend your task for more XP – bring one bracelet for every 90 assigned, so two or three for large tasks. Set up your cannon, then camp protect from melee and piety. Bring combat potions, prayer potions, and 1 antidote++ for poison immunity for 48 minutes. Special attack weapons do not matter, but I bring the Saradomin godsword for prayer restoration. As with most Kalphites, don’t expect too many great drops, you’ll average less than 1k per kill and I don’t pick up many drops.
Regarding slayer XP/hour: I found I was getting about 60k xp/hour with the abyssal bludgeon, between 60k and 65k xp/hour with the rapier and defender, over 65k xp/hour with the inquisitor’s mace and soulreaper axe, and over 70k xp/hour with the scythe. I don’t have the upgraded Keris partisan of breaching from TOA, but all of these options are fantastic XP, so don’t feel like you must have the top-tier weapons.
An alternative to killing the lower-level kalphites for high-level players is killing the boss level 333 Kalphite Queen. The Kalphite queen is a strong boss due to high-damage attacks, and most players will only be able to kill a few queens per trip. Completion of the Desert Hard diary is highly recommended, as otherwise, every trip will require two ropes per inventory. Completion of the Desert Elite diary and 86 agility is also highly recommended for faster travel to the Queen's chamber. The cannon cannot be set up in the Kalphite Queen's arena. I will cover the Kalphite Queen in a separate guide video. Happy slaying!
