ORIGINAL INFO: Batman hates rock and roll, but what does he feel about jazz?
RUMINATIONS: Unless you’re an unrepentant Power Rangers villain, every evil needs a motivation, so Holokara needed a reason for him to have descended into evil, and that reason is revealed. I reject the notion that power will ALWAYS corrupt. In Linkara’s case, he had an intervention that allowed him to reflect on his choices and emotions that made him realize he was on a slippery slope… but there was no way in hell he was going to give up Comicron One after this. It’s too valuable a resource to lose, despite the potential threats that could come with it.
But yeah, Linkara needed to be back at the apartment in time for the Halloween storyline, so this might seem a bit of an abrupt wrap-up to this leg of the Gunslinger storyline. I would have preferred more time between the last time we saw him and his return, but limited time and all that.
The bigger lingering thread is the matter of the Gunslinger picking up the mobile emitter. Here’s the deal – originally, I had planned for there to be one final fight with Holokara before the storyline finale, kind of a true battle to show that Linkara HAD changed from his journey. The Gunslinger would have reprogrammed the hologram and sent it in to distract Linkara while he acquired the magic gun. However, coming closer to that point, I realized that it would have involved A LOT of work to get ANOTHER battle in (and one against myself) when I had a lot of stuff to cover for the finale, so I scrapped it and decided Jaeris would eventually use the mobile emitter down the road in a constructive manner. However, since then, Will has moved away and Jaeris’ storyline closed. Spoilers for that one, but Jaeris was also supposed to hand back the mobile emitter to him at THAT point… buuuut I forgot to write it in, so it remains unresolved to this day. Still, you never know. I’m one for bringing back obscure stuff and making some use out of it.
