In this video, I replace the rear brake light assembly on a 2007 BMW X5 (E70).
This may or may not be related to your brake lamp malfunction error.
I had to replace the assembly after verifying that the bulbs and sockets were good.
No special tools are required and it only takes about 10 minutes as there are 3 nuts and 1 connector.
