James Hodgkinson opened fire Wednesday morning at Republican congressmen participating in a baseball practice, wounding Rep. Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana), two Capitol Police officers and a congressional staffer. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Alabama), who witnessed the attack, said at least 50 shots were fired from a semi-automatic rifle.
Hodgkinson was shot by law enforcement and died of his injuries after being taken to the hospital.
