Hi guys, I've been out every day shooting all sorts of subjects with the R7. Here's a short no frills video showing my basic settings and how I enjoy shooting birds, bugs, blooms and other wildlife without having to think a lot about it out in the field.
I like to shoot without using any extra buttons or having to think about settings any more than necessary when I'm out there enjoying the experience. I like to see an interesting subject and just aim, focus and shoot. Since the tracking and the bird, animal, or human eye auto focus works so well I have it activated on my front shutter button all the time. My Af-on back button set to single-point af is there when needed but that's not very often. The back button will override the front button's AF settings if it is held down first, so you never need to deactivate the AF settings from the front shutter button.
In FV mode or in Manual mode and auto-iso I can usually get whatever results I want by adjusting the exposure compensation or the shutter speed. I'm going to make another video soon about how I handle those high contrast bright and dark situations.
I don't show how to make each of the customizations in the menu, but I hope it gives you an idea of my thinking and my settings choices. I'll try to answer any questions if I can.
