STORYLINE:
Suspected Islamic guerrillas fired two rifle grenades on Saturday near Srinagar as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, was officially opening a school.
No one was killed or injured in the attack at the womens' college.
A senior police spokesman said one grenade exploded in mid-air and the other landed in a nearby pond, in Bemina near the state's summer capital of Srinagar.
Indian troops conducted a house to house search throughout Bemina and nearby Srinagar to try to find the suspected militants. It is not known if they were captured.
India and Pakistan have reacted coolly to a call from the United States and several other nations to end border shelling and the buildup of troops and resume direct peace talks to end five decades of hostility.
