Java is full of incredible volcanoes and my journey over the last decade has been to climb as many of the Indonesian volcanoes as I can. What started as a trip to Sumatra in 2010 has turned into many return trips to the archipelago to hike the volcanoes of Indonesia. Java is by far one of my favourite islands for that reason.
Gunung Welirang, or Sulphur Mountain in English is part of the Arjuno-Welirang Mountain Complex. Arjuno is just the highest point in the range and compromises of just a a rocky summit. Welirang on the other hand spews out sulphur and is far more interesting.
