A number of techniques have been described to perform a surface ablation refractive procedure including LASEK, EpiLASIK, TransPRK but none have managed to provide the same safety, and accuracy of the Standard Operating Procedure for epithelial removal by alcohol followed by surface ablation and the placement of a well fitting bandage contact lens.
