In this lesson, we will learn how to convert between a mixed number and an improper fraction. The process for each is very straight forward. To convert a mixed number into an improper fraction, we will multiply the denominator by the whole number and then add the result to the numerator. This will give us the numerator for the improper fraction, while we keep the original denominator. To convert an improper fraction into a mixed number, we will divide the numerator by the denominator. The quotient will then be our whole number part, while the remainder will be the numerator and we will keep the original denominator.
