The First Nations principles of OCAP® – Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession of First Nations data by First Nations – will be twenty-five years old in 2023. This presentation will discuss OCAP® and First Nations data sovereignty in their true context of collective rights. It will also describe the data and information infrastructures First Nations are building to support self-determination and self-governance, including the First Nations Data Centre, the First Nations Data Governance Strategy, and education and training programs, and reflect on what is required for First Nations and mainstream data and information systems to work together.

Cette présentation abordera les principes PCAP® et la souveraineté des données des Premières Nations dans leur véritable contexte de droits collectifs. To turn on French subtitles follow these 3 steps:
Step 1 - click the bottom on the bottom right-hand corner of the video screen that says CC (for closed captioning) so that a red line appears under it to signal that it is "on".
Step 2 - Click the "cogwheel" icon on the bottom right-hand corner of the video screen and choose "subtitles" and then "English” (auto-generated).
Step 3 - The choose "subtitles" again, then "auto-translate", then scroll down the list of languages until you see French and click "French". The same steps can be followed for any available language.
Pour activer les sous-titres français, suivez ces 3 étapes :
