On Monday, January 9, local media and members of the press attended the first Johnston County State of Aviation Press Conference, which was held at the Johnston Regional Airport KJNX.

The press conference focused on statistics published by North Carolina Department of Transportation Aviation Division that highlighted the economic benefits of the state's public airports as well as associated aviation and aerospace assets that support North Carolina's aviation economy. Johnston County Board of Commissioners Chairman Butch Lawter, North Carolina State Representative Larry Strickland, North Carolina State Representative Donna White, NCDOT Aviation Director Bobby Walston and North Carolina Senator-elect Benton Sawrey were among those who spoke at the ceremony.
