Dr. Shah will discuss the role of psychotropic drugs in mental health treatment. She will examine the indication, dosages, and risks versus benefits of several psychotropic medications. She will also address some other related issues that may impact the treatment outcome such as medication non-adherence and concurrent co-morbidities.
Dr. Komal Shah is an actively practicing psychiatrist. She worked at George Otlowski’s mental health center in the outpatient clinic for fifteen years. She is currently working at her own private practice office in East Brunswick, NJ. She has an extensive and varied experience of over 18 years in diagnosis and management of a plethora of psychiatric conditions. She has worked at various settings such as an inpatient hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing homes, IOP & partial hospital programs. She graduated medical school from N.H.L.M.M.C. Medical College in Ahmedabad, India in 1991. She completed her psychiatric residency and fellowship in New York. She is board certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry. She is blessed with two beautiful daughters and a supportive husband. Besides her professional work, she loves to paint and dance.
