Cuviosul Lavrentie al Cernigovului (1868 – 1950) este un sfant cunoscut printr-o serie de profetii despre apocalipsa si venirea lui Antihrist. Sfantul Lavrentie a vorbit si despre schisma din biserica ortodoxa rusa, care va avea loc atunci cand la Kiev se va face o patriarhie, iar Ucraina nu va mai asculta de patriarhul de la Moscova.
Sfântul Lavrentie din Cernigov – după numele său de botez, Luca Evseevici Proscura – s-a născut în anul 1868, în localitatea rusească Karilsk, din regiunea Cernigov. Mănăstirea Sfânta Treime din Cernigov este locul unde Luca a fost tuns în monahism, primind numele de Lavrentie. Mai apoi, în anul 1895, el a fost numit ieromonah, iar după o vreme, egumen.
În vremurile grele, în care manstirile trebuiau închise de autorități „pentru reparații” (1930), părintele a trăit la poalele unui munte, iar in anul 1941, după ce a început războiul, sfântul a redeschis fosta mănăstire de călugări din Cernigov, transformat-o în mănăstire de maici, precum și Mănăstirea Domnitskii.
La un moment dat, sfântul a prorocit, zicând: „Din acest moment eu voi mai trăi un an și jumătate. Anul 1950 vă va arăta, iar în 1952 veți vedea multe rele”. Cuvântul i s-a împlinit întocmai, căci Sfântul Lavrentie a trecut la cele veșnice în anul 1950, iar în anul 1952, Mănăstirea Domnitskii a fost închisă de autorități, „pentru reparații”. A fost canonizat de Biserica Ortodoxa Rusa in 1993.
