After a viewer asked about the Midland M5, I dug one out from stores & took it out of the box here on video. It does have 5 presets inside rather than some hidden menu arrangement & I managed to coax 3.5W out of it too. Receive is excellent, there is a menu driven RF gain option. No autosquelch though & the normal squelch is again menu driven, so a pain when mobile. The mike is the heaviest I've ever held...including other remote 'on the mike' sets, and the curly lead is over heavy too.
I just feel the CRT Mike I did a few weeks ago was a better set. I ought to look for my Polymor Venus & compare that too.
On the Air test with Mr Chippie should get recorded tomorrow with this set.
