If ever you're after a great little day trip in Ninh Binh Province in Vietnam (when we're allowed to travel again of course!), then look no further than the Tam Coc 'leg rowing' boats (see previous video) and then the Bich Dong Pagoda.
The Pagoda is just a lazy motorbike ride from the boats and is well worth a look. Bich Dong Pagoda was built by two monks , Tri Kien and Tri The in early 18th century and makes clever use of the mountainous landscape and the natural caves to create a peaceful yet rich environment.
At first I was a little unsure but as I walked around the entire area I was drawn to the 'vibe' that was quite noticeable and starting to seep into my bones.
I slipped away from the tourist trail for a bit and discovered a secret area where the resident Monk washes in what is a truly beautiful setting.
Beware of the whistling sales lady though...
